TaleWorlds' action-RPG Mount & Blade was also honored twice, taking Indie Game of the Year as well as the Editors Choice award for Best Indie Game. In addition to Mod of the Year, Project Reality was recognized as Best Multiplayer Mod. Project Reality aims to create more realistic gameplay and equipment using the core engine and dynamics of team-based shooter Battlefield 2, as well as increasing the necessity of cooperation.
The site's 7th Annual Mod of the Year Awards gave out ten main honors to seven games, along with a slate of runners up for the main award, drawing from a field of 150 'high-profile releases.'
Multiplayer mod Project Reality, a significant reworking of DICE's Battlefield 2, has been named 2008 Mod of the Year by notable mod coverage site Mod DB.
